The publishing group of which Ediciones Omega is a part has its origins in Editorial Iberia. Founded in the early 1920s, it was dedicated to the publication of books on history and customs. In the post-war period it published the collection "OBRAS MAESTRAS" with works of Greek and Latin classics as well as Castilian, English, French, German and Russian classics with translators of the stature of Antonio Tovar, María Luz Morales and Jaume Bofill i Ferro. It also has a collection of self-help books. In 1948 its owner, Gabriel Paricio Fonts (1900-1989), founded Ediciones Omega. His publishing line initially focused on art books (Poliedro Collection) and photography books. In the mid-1950s he began publishing scientific and technical books, specializing mainly in biology, botany, biochemistry and cellular biology. He also created the Naturalist's Guides collection, which currently has 460 titles. In the last few years, the publication of books on Photography, Video and Television, Horticulture and a collection of children's literature has been promoted. In 1983, his successors created a new publishing house: Ediciones Medici. Specializing in books on pregnancy, child care in the first years of life and the education and guidance of children until the end of adolescence.
