PROMINAR XD Lenses

The PROMINAR XD series is the first range of KOWA binoculars to employ the PROMINAR four-lens XD design. These high-performance binoculars use the technology of the TSN-880/770 spotting scopes and a pair of XD lenses with convex lenses made of glass with special dispersion properties to eliminate chromatic aberration. This advanced technology delivers bright, high-contrast images with remarkable color realism that cannot be offered by classic achromatic lenses.

KOWA has designed a new series of excellent quality binoculars that offer the performance the professional nature observer has always desired. The success of this new KOWA series is based on the extraordinary optical quality achieved thanks to the Extra Low Dispersion "XD" lenses, which eliminate chromatic aberration, thus conferring greater contrast and definition to the images. KOWA C3 Coating

KOWA roof prism binoculars use Schmidt-Pecham design prisms. One surface of the Pecham prism is not fully reflective, so KOWA has applied a highly reflective coating called C3. This achieves a higher reflectivity than with aluminum- or silver-treated models, reaching a reflection coefficient of 99% or more over the entire visible spectrum (400 to 700nm). Not only are brighter and more contrasted images obtained, but also accurate color reproduction is achieved. What's more, the Schmidt roof prism features a Phase treatment to prevent loss of contrast and image resolution.
