The X-Guider is a tangent mount attachment to the telescope. It is extremely compact and innovative for finding the guide star. Its main feature is that although it has a load capacity of more than 6 kg it is very light, with a simple, robust, slack-free mechanics and above all it has the ability to make adjustments with one hand through two practical knobs, a very important aspect when it is necessary to act in uncomfortable conditions.

Once the final position has been found, it is possible to lock the elevation by means of two knobs, while the azimuth can be secured by tightening the two side knobs, thus leaving the system completely free of play and mechanical deflection, an absolutely essential factor in an autoguider system. Another important aspect is the low profile which allows it to maintain a low center of gravity resulting in less weight to balance. The system is equipped with a standard GP dovetail for the attachment of the guide scope and a second removable GP flange, through which a fast and efficient parallel mounting on a standard GP rod is possible on the side overlapping the main scope.

The Avalon X-Guider is a high-precision, backlash-free guide scope alignment accessory. Unlike conventional guide scope rings, which rely on pushing screws into the tube body, the Avalon X-Guider features a dovetail mounting system (GP size 45 mm) for quick attachment / detachment of the guide scope to the main telescope.

The X-Guider features a very compact body, innovative design and beautiful appearance. All aluminum metal parts are CNC machined. All threaded knobs, designed by Avalon Instruments, have a special ergonomic design and are made of a special polymer. It also features a very hard anti-scratch anodized surface finish with CNC engraved characters.

The Avalon X-Guider is used to easily locate guide stars during astroimaging sessions and has been designed after much experience in deep sky astroimaging.
One of the most innovative aspects of the Avalon X-Guider is the ratio between the high load capacity of up to 5 kg (12 Lbs) and the weight of the device, less than 500 g (1 lb). This is a very useful feature for portability, as well as putting significantly less load on your mount. The X-Guider mechanics are very simple, robust, totally free of backlash in azimuth and free of flex in typical working situations.
