Smartphone Adapter Celestron Basic Smartphone Adapter, 1'25
This is a coupling system specially designed for the novice user so that he can take pictures with total comfort and safety with his cell phone.
The Smartphone Adapter Celestron Basic Smartphone Adapter, 1'25" is compatible with virtually any type or model of cell phone. And it allows attachment to astronomical telescopes, spotting scopes, monoculars and even fits microscopes.
User's manual:
1. Lift the attachment straps and slide the phone between the straps and the adapter so that the camera is in the camera opening. The straps should provide enough tension to hold the device against the adapter and the black rubber surface provides enough friction to prevent the phone from sliding.
RECOMMENDATION: Depending on the design of the phone, the camera may be in the center of the device or in a corner. You may need to change the angle of the straps to better secure the phone. You have six different anchor points to choose from around the edge of the adapter. Attach them to different anchor points to get the optimal result.
2. Rotate the adapter and make sure the camera lens is centered in the lens aperture. The better centered it is, the easier it will be to capture images through the telescope.
3. Take the 1.25" eyepiece and, if necessary, remove the rubber eyepiece holder by pulling it out of the eyepiece body.
4. Loosen the screws located on the eyepiece holder inside the adapter. Place the black section of the eyepiece into the eyepiece holder and tighten the screws to secure the eyepiece in position
5. Take the adapter with the handset and eyepiece installed and insert the chrome barrel into the eyepiece on the diagonal at the back of the telescope focus. Secure it in position by tightening the screws on the diagonal.
6. Activate the phone's camera app and adjust the focus, as you would with the eyepiece, in this case using the image displayed on the screen.
NOTE: Be sure to turn off the phone's flash
7. When the image looks sharp capture the picture
It is best to try it in daylight and then, when everything is set up correctly, take it outside and try to photograph the Moon. When you have practiced and are comfortable using the low power eyepieces, try using the camera adapter with a more powerful eyepiece for higher magnification.
