Product Details

Flats box for tubes up to 260mm outer diameter.

The flats box is used to capture a background sky in order to process the image and remove various effects such as vignetting or spots caused by dust particles in the optical system.

Flat image files allow correction of vignetting (dark edges at the corners of the image) and non-uniform illumination created by misalignment of the optics, or by dust or stains on the lenses and/or mirrors.

To obtain them it is necessary to use the same optical instrument, maintain the same focus, ISO and camera position with respect to the telescope as in the light shots (this will not be the case if a photographic lens is used). They are made by shooting with the camera at a uniformly illuminated object (the flats box). Temperature is not important. No less than 20 such shots should be taken.
