Adapter Geoptik for CCD and CANON EOS lenses
NOTE: The product image shown is with a Tamron lens and CCD camera ATIK. Neither the camera nor the lens is included with this accessory.
Now you can use your CANON EOS lens with a CCD camera and put it to use in astrophotography.
This GEOPTIK adapter allows you to attach all photographic lenses that work well with CANON EOS cameras to most astronomical CCD cameras. The adapter converts the typical CANON EOS bayonet to the standard T2 thread. The whole assembly, once the lens is attached to the CCD, can be directly mounted on a tripod with 1/4" thread or piggybacked on a telescope with the same type of thread.
Applications:
*Perform astrophotography with CCD and CANON EOS lenses.
*Use CANON EOS lenses for autoguiding
Which CCD cameras can I use the GEOPTIK T-adapter with?
The effective optical path of this adapter from Geoptik is 19mm. According to the calculations of our technicians at Telescopiomania, this leaves enough backfocus for almost all T-thread and C-thread CCD cameras such as ATIK, Skyris, etc. Most of these cameras require a very small backfocus, typically 12-19mm. Between the camera and the adapter Geoptik you may need to use a T2 extender to get the optimal distance between the lens and the camera.
Technical specifications:
*Adaptation to CANON EOS bayonet lenses with a fixing ring.Compatible with all CANON EOS lenses (including EF-S bayonet lenses)
*Adaptation to the camera is via male T2 thread (M42x0.75)
*Effective optical path of only 19mm (not including the length of the male T thread)
*35mm diaphragm aperture
* Adaptation to tripod or telescope with standard 1/4" thread and 3x M5
How to attach the lens to the adapter:
The adapter uses a locking ring. Before inserting the lens turn the locking ring clockwise until you can't go any further. Then insert the lens and turn the bayonet clockwise. Finally lock the lens in the adapter by turning the locking ring counterclockwise.
