GIOTTO 120 is the intelligent flat field generator we have designed to help you capture flat field frames (Flats) for telescopes with an aperture up to 120 mm. GIOTTO uses many LED lights with a color temperature similar to that of the Sun, a specially designed light diffuser and, thanks to the included thumbscrews, you can easily attach it in front of telescopes with an external tube diameter of 77mm to 140mm. GIOTTO is provided with integrated electronics that allow you to adjust GIOTTO's light intensity in 100 steps (from 0 to 100%), USB-C port to allow you to connect to your EAGLE or any standard Windows computer for remote control with PLAY or ASCOM driver, WiFi connectivity to allow you to control it wirelessly using your smartphone or tablet via the included Virtual HandPad and 12V power port! and if you want to automate the capture of your calibration files or if you are looking for the best way to open and close your telescope remotely, you can add the optional ALTO telescope lid motor and use GIOTTO as a remote controlled motorized lid!

Flat field calibration, also known as FLAT imaging is important in astrophotography because results are greatly improved if special calibration frames called FLAT, DARK and BIAS are captured and used during image processing. In particular, flat frames are recorded by pointing the telescope at a white surface and allow mitigating the effect of vignetting and shadows created by dust in the optical system. GIOTTO is the intelligent flat field generator that helps you capture calibration flat frames for your astrophotography.

The GIOTTO 120 flat field generator has a maximum illumination diameter of 120mm so we suggest it for compact telescopes such as refractors up to 90mm in diameter. When choosing a flat field generator, we suggest that you choose a model with an illuminated panel larger than the telescope optics. The outer tube diameter of your telescope should be smaller than the maximum illumination diameter of the flat field generator.

GIOTTO includes electronics for USB or wireless remote control
On the bottom of GIOTTO is the control panel with USB-C port so you can easily connect it to your EAGLE or standard Windows computer. It also comes with WiFi connectivity so you can control it wirelessly using your smartphone or tablet via the included Virtual HandPad! To power the GIOTTO, you don't need a separate power supply unit, as it runs natively from a 12V power supply, making it easy to power along with your astrophotography telescope.

Using GIOTTO 120 is very simple: when you want to record your flat frames, just attach GIOTTO 120 to the front of your telescope by fixing it in place with the included thumbscrews that allow you to use it with telescopes with an outer diameter of 77mm to 140mm. This way, you won't be forced to hold the flat field generator by hand in front of your telescope during flat frame acquisition or move your telescope away from your objective and point it at the Zenith if you can't hold the flat generator in position by hand. The thumbscrews are made of plastic so as not to ruin your telescope tube when locking the GIOTTO into it.

GIOTTO is easy to use and helps you in recording flat frames
You can control GIOTTO with the PLAY astrophotography software that we have designed not only to control the devices PrimaLuceLab but also to allow you to do astrophotography in the easiest way. In fact PLAY also comes with a special wizard that allows you to easily save calibration files for your images. And if you want to use your favorite Windows astrophotography software, you can also control GIOTTO using other software thanks to the dedicated ASCOM driver.

Use the Virtual HandPad to control GIOTTO even without a computer
You can control GIOTTO even without a computer by connecting your smartphone or tablet to GIOTTO's WiFi network and using the included Virtual HandPad. Here you can turn on the light and adjust the brightness. You can also save your preferred settings and recall them very easily, for example by saving different values when using different filters.
