Juan Carlos Casado is president of the Albanyà Astronomical Observatory. He is also coordinator of the web portal Starryearth, collaborator of the Instituto de Astrofísica de Canarias (IAC) and the only Spanish member of the international project TWAN (The World At Night), recognized by UNESCO, which brings together the best nightscape astrophotographers in the world. He collaborates since 2002 with the group Shelios Expediciones Científicas. He has observed more than fifty eclipses of all kinds, including eighteen total solar eclipses, and has made more than forty expeditions around the world.

He has also published images and articles in different national and international press, TV and Internet media, as well as in more than thirty books and in different national and European projects. He has collaborated with entities, universities, science museums and planetariums around the world, such as National Geographic, BBC, NBC, NASA, ESA, ESO, National Academy of Sciences (USA), Institute of Astrophysics of Paris, Museum of Natural History of New York, etc. So far it has obtained 55 APOD (Astronomy Picture of The Day) from NASA.
