Book Spectroscopic Observation.
This is the first work that is published in Spain that addresses spectroscopy thinking about astronomy amateurs and anyone who is curious about what is the spectrum of light and what it means. This book arises with the intention of satisfying the need for information and guidance to amateur observers who wish to enter the field of spectroscopy as a tool for the study of the stars.
From now on all of them have at their disposal a work written in Spanish that gathers the necessary basic notions and all the techniques that were previously scattered and only in other languages. Spectroscopic Observation offers a progressive learning, by steps, from a basic level, to turn the reader into an experienced observer of stellar spectra.
It starts with the most elementary knowledge and techniques and teaches how to obtain the first results. It then introduces readers to the use of spectrographs designed for amateur telescopes, and teaches the correct methodology for obtaining the final spectra in the form of numerical data.
This book opens the door for astronomy and science amateurs in general to verify with their own results many concepts that are in astrophysics books. Not only that, but it offers the possibility of making valuable contributions to research by means of their own spectra.
About the author: Miguel Rodriguez Marco (Zaragoza, 1971). Amateur astronomer, he began to make observations when he was 13 years old and developed his activity within the Syrma Astronomical Society of Valladolid. In 1992 he began to make observations of variable stars. At the same time he joined the M1 Supernovae and Variables Observing Group and the AAVSO (American organization dedicated to the observation and study of variable stars); he started with the visual technique and, in 2003, he began observations with CCD photometry. In 2014, he started spectroscopy, with the acquisition and commissioning of his first spectrograph. Since then, he performs spectrography almost exclusively, focusing on eruptive variable stars. He maintains collaboration with the ARAS group, based in France, providing spectra for its database. He participates in the last years in an amateur-]professional collaboration studying the recurrent nova T Coronae Borealis.
