Armstrong: the incredible journey of a mouse to the Moon.

A long time ago a mouse learned to fly... and crossed the Atlantic. But what happened next?

The new book by Torben Kuhlmann that we offer you in Telescopiomania transports readers to the Moon. Following in the footsteps of "Lindbergh: the incredible adventure of a flying mouse", Kuhlmann delights us again with "Armstrong: the incredible journey of a mouse to the Moon". In this book, dreams are limited only by the capacity of imagination, and the greatest innovations come from one of the smallest and seemingly insignificant beings.

join Armstrong on his fascinating adventure to disprove the rest of the mice who think the Moon is a huge cheese ball! This little hero, following the advice of old Lindbergh, will have to delve into the study of aeronautics and space, passing through the Smithsonian Museum and the university, testing his ingenuity with his inventions to travel to space and fleeing from the police who are hot on his heels, all with the firm belief that his dreams can come true.

The book, with wonderfully detailed illustrations, ends with a brief history of space travel, from Galileo Galilei's observations on the nature of the universe to man's first steps on the moon.

Valerie Neal, Chair of the Department of Space History and Curator of Manned Spaceflight at the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum comments on the book:

"They say that in a time not so long ago, children playing with spaceships began to dream of traveling to the Moon. Adults were also fascinated by the idea, especially those engineers and scientists who understood machines and mathematics. The problem was that no one knew exactly how to do it, or even exactly where in space the Moon was located; and no one knew if anyone could survive such a trip.

This imaginative recreation of the first trip to the Moon is, for the most part, true. The challenges and the solutions to the problems; the inventiveness and the dedication; the trials and the failures, and yes, also the tragedy and, finally, the success, all happened in much the same way as described in this book. More than the words themselves, the meticulously detailed illustrations reveal how the early space travelers worked their way through their ingenuity, solving the myriad conundrums of spacecraft and spacesuit design, and eventually made it all the way to the Moon.

For those born after 1965 or so, this story full of ingenuity and indomitable will may not be familiar; that's why Armstrong retells it for us. This book will delight aspiring astronauts of all ages who pursue big dreams and are committed to achieving them, just as all those who figured out how to get to the Moon and back did.

Ad astra per aspera - Toward the stars through adversity."
