ECCO, environmental computer controller for EAGLE Primalucelab.
ECCO is the E nvironmental C omputerized CO ntroller for EAGLE that automates the management of dew heaters during long astrophotographic exposures. By adding the ECCO module to your EAGLE, it will automatically and continuously monitor the temperature, the humidity of the air around your telescope and the temperature of its lenses by calculating the dew point (the temperature below which dew condenses). This will vary the heating of the dew heaters connected to the appropriate ports, preventing dew from condensing on your optics. This process is automatic with a very easy to use device that simply plugs into the EAGLE's USB port.
The EAGLE has adjustable voltage power supply ports where you can connect your dew heaters without the need for an external controller. Using the EAGLE Manager software you can activate these ports and manually adjust the voltage to activate the relative spray heater. Instead, ECCO, thanks to the integration of the appropriate temperature and humidity sensors, adds to EAGLE the automatic power control of the dew heater, monitoring in real time the temperature of the optics of your instruments (through the appropriate probes, a maximum of 3 probes), the air temperature and the relative humidity (through the sensors included in the ECCO body). ECCO calculates the dew point and then automatically adjusts the power of the dew heaters to avoid any condensation automatically!
ECCO can be installed on any finder base such as the DX or the one mounted on Celestron, SkyWatcher or GSO telescopes. Therefore, it is very easy to connect it to your telescope. If you do not have a standard finder base, you can install one of the many optional bases and then connect the ECCO. ECCO was designed as an external module to the EAGLE and not as an integrated instrument because, if it were internal to the EAGLE, its air temperature and humidity measurements would be influenced by the heat (albeit weak) created by the EAGLE during use .As an external module, the data recorded by ECCO is incredibly accurate.
