For those who have a fog shield or instruments such as glasses with an integrated fog shield, a simple strip with an integrated heating element will prevent fogging.
Standard fog lamps, without heating, simply delay the formation of mist on the optics.
Depending on your geographical location, this type of simple anti-fog shield may be sufficient (this accessory is also recommended to stop stray light intrusion). However, in humid regions or, at certain times of the year, in drier places, fog can form, forcing the observer or astrophotographer to stop his or her evening.
AstroZap offers a whole range of heating strips for: finders, eyepieces, Telrad, instruments... depending on the diameter you are looking for, to put an end to fogging and with guaranteed results.
The heat source is a large film heater operating at 12 volts. 66% of the surface emits heat, which means a wider thermal distribution, unlike heating elements that cause localized "cold" or "hot" spots. In addition, the AstroZap system does not induce turbulence due to heat.
A 2 m long cable with RCA/cinch output connector is compatible with AstroZap (AZ-720) or Thousand Oaks Optical controllers.
The AstroZap tapes are flexible for ease of use and storage. A neoprene wrap surrounds the resistor to distribute heat evenly. A hook-and-loop fastener prevents marking or damaging the optical tube. Make the fog disappear Enjoy observing without the risk of stopping suddenly.
Attention: for an instrument, measure the circumference and not the diameter!
- This product requires the use of a simple D/C adapter (AZ-719) or a dual channel controller (AZ-720) to be powered.
- Spray heater specifications: 43" length, 26.76 watts at 12 volts, 2.23 amps.
- Use of a non-Astrozap brand spray controller may cause damage and void warranty.
