Heated Astrozap hood for 11" SC tube and with dovetail notch
Standard unheated sunshades only delay fogging of the optics. Depending on your location, a simple hood may be sufficient (this accessory is also recommended to slow down stray light intrusion). However, in humid regions or sometimes in drier locations, fogging can occur, forcing the observer or astrophotographer to stop their evening. AstroZap offers a smart, flexible, heated dew shield system. No more fogging, guaranteed!
The heat source is a large heating foil operating at 12 volts. 66% of the surface emits heat, which means a more significant thermal distribution, unlike heating elements that cause localized "cold" or "hot" spots. In addition, the AstroZap system does not induce turbulence due to heat. A 2 m long cable with RCA/cinch output connector is compatible with AstroZap (AZ-720) or Thousand Oaks Optical (TODDHC) controllers.
An AZ-719 cigarette lighter socket (for 2 resistors) is available for use without a controller. Fog shields AstroZap are flexible for easy storage, made of ABS plastic and coated with black felt to absorb moisture and increase contrast. A 50 mm wide neoprene sleeve covers the optical tube inlet to distribute heat evenly. A Velcro closure is provided to avoid marking or damaging the light pipe. Some models are equipped with notches for one or two dovetails. Make the fog disappear. Observe comfortably without the risk of suddenly interrupting your observation.
