Altazimuth mount 10Micron AZ 2000 HPS

This mount is the latest version of the AZ2000, an altazimuth mount based on the GM2000 mechanics. The AZ2000 HPS is a very versatile research mount, perfect for scientific activities such as satellite tracking, photometric and astrometric measurements, LiDaR laser applications, etc. Due to its high-zimuth design, an optional field de-rotator (ASCOM compatible) is required to obtain long exposures without field rotation.
The standard version allows mounting the optics on only one side of the mount and is supplied with a short counterweight bar. It is not necessary to exactly counterbalance the weight of the telescope: use counterweights for about 50% of its payload to obtain a sufficiently stable configuration.
The original AZ2000 was also produced in the special "Antarctica" version, which could operate at extremely low temperatures of -84°C (-119F). ° C (-119F). Special mechanical and electronic considerations were necessary to design and produce this peculiar assembly: from the right choice of materials and sizes to the use of special and very expensive lubricants, wiring and connectors. A special housing was also designed to protect against temperature and ice crystal formation and needed different levels of seals depending on the effective operating temperature.
