Electronic control with USB connection for a LUNT Pressure-Tuner system.

The PC-USB is a microprocessor-controlled pressure regulation for the Pressure-Tuner (PT) tuning process. The user can easily connect it to all LUNT Pressure-Tuner instruments (except LS50THa). The PC-USB is simply connected to the Pressure-Tuner with an air hose. Therefore, all existing PT systems (except LS50THa) can be equipped with the included adapter. The PC-USB control can be used at any altitude.

The PC-USB control can be operated manually directly on the console, or via a USB connection to a computer (Windows 7 operating system or higher). For operation via a PC, a USB cable with USB-B connector is required. This cable is not included in the scope of delivery.

When the PC-USB is switched on, the system adjusts to the atmospheric pressure, which takes about 60 seconds. The PC-USB is a simple 2-key system. One key to increase and one key to decrease the pressure on the Pressure-Tuner. A digital feedback and corresponding indications are made. With a setting accuracy of 0.027 bar (0.4 PSI), the PC-USB allows very precise control of the Pressure-Tuner. Changes in internal pressure, e.g. due to temperature variations, are automatically compensated. The PC-USB can be programmed to a specific wavelength setpoint. This setpoint remains constant regardless of the altitude of the observation site.

With slight variations in atmospheric pressure, Doppler effects can be observed very well with the PC-USB. Normally a telescope vibrates during mechanical tuning. This is particularly unpleasant at high magnifications, e.g. when observing Doppler effects in a filament. With the PC-USB, such shaking is a thing of the past at all magnifications, making it much more comfortable to observe Doppler effects.

The PC-USB can run continuously for more than 8 hours on an internal battery. In addition, it has an external power supply (15 V DC), with which the device can be operated and, at the same time, the internal battery can be charged.
