All you need to know about Antlia LRVB Dark filters
The Antlia LRVB "Dark" filter series is specially designed for deep sky astrophotography with black and white cameras. This filter series is designed and optimized for use with the most popular sensors on the market, such as Kodak's KAF/KAI series CCDs and Sony's IMX CMOS. This optimization results in better color balance and more natural saturation. The Dark series offers a sharper cut-off of the bandwidth of each filter.
The optical density of 4.5 (0.005%) is higher than that commonly used in Antlia filters (OD: 4), which reduces halos around stars and increases the contrast between bright objects in the image and the background sky.
Emphasis is also placed on the high transmission, higher than 95% in blue and 97% in red and green.
Transmission curve of the Antlia LRGB filter. The wavelength in nanometers is on the x-axis. The transmission percentage is on the ordinate.
Antlia LRGB filters are optimized for deep sky imaging and are therefore not :
- Not suitable for visual use
- Not suitable for solar observation
- Not suitable for solar imaging
Technical specifications:
- Anti-reflective, anti-halo and side obscuration coatings
- Parafocal filters
- Glass used: Quartz. Excellent durability and thermal stability, as well as increased resistance to breakage and scratches
- 3-year warranty
