Baader Hyperion Zoom Mark IV Eyepiece Kit with 2.25x Barlow 2454827.
The BAADER PLANETARIUM Hyperion 8-24mm Zoom Mark IV eyepiece continues BAADER's tradition of offering products with top-notch optical performance at very reasonable prices.
Zoom eyepieces have earned a reputation as a mediocre product, over the years, for their compromise between optical design and actual performance. But actually, we are convinced that the BAADER Hyperion Zoom Mark IV eyepiece with 2.25x barlow will positively surprise many skeptical users thanks to its combination of optical performance, quality and novel features.
Telescopiomania offers you the fourth generation of the famous Hyperion Zoom Eyepiece from Baader Planetarium with 68º of apparent field and five magnifications - focal lengths of 8, 12, 16, 16, 20 and 24 mm very well defined with an improved mechanism for selecting the focal length you want to use. Optimal ocular/eye distance perfectly adapted to the human eye. Flat field design over the entire viewing area. High quality treatment of the optics that facilitates the observation of faint objects offering maximum contrast and complete elimination of reflections. Large, height-adjustable rubber canopy, plus a folding rubber eyecup that fits over the M43 photo/video thread. The M43 thread for afocal and classic projection photography allows optional adaptation of virtually any camera with corresponding accessories. Includes Ø 1¼" and Ø 2" barrels.
what's new in the Zoom Universal Mark IV?
The fourth generation of this eyepiece weighs only 290 grams (80 grams lighter than its predecessor) - plus it has a 55 mm width that makes it ideal for use with binocular heads. More importantly - the Mark IV eyepiece offers almost 4 mm more backfocus. This is beneficial for use with most spotting scopes. Many spotting scopes allow the attachment of 1¼" Ø astronomy eyepieces - but in most cases this combination does not allow focusing to infinity. Using the included adapter ring "A", the Hyperion Zoom eyepiece penetrates almost 4 mm into the telescope's eyepiece holder, and thus can focus to infinity. By removing the Ø 1¼" mount and adding the "A" ring we can attach the eyepiece securely to the Ultima series spotting scopes Celestron. A bayonet adapter is also available for Zeiss Diascope spotting scopes. The eyepiece also includes a "B" adapter spacer ring that prevents the eyepiece base from tripping over the eyepiece mounting screws on the zenith prisms. Another ring included is a Ø 2" SC ring that allows the eyepiece to be firmly fixed on any SC thread, in particular on the Ø 2" clicklock eyepiece, with the help of the Ø 2"/2" - M48 reversing ring.
Under this reference the Mark IV is supplied with the Barlow Hyperion 2.25x lens, which is inserted into the Ø 1¼" barrel, offering a range from 3.6 to 10.7 mm.
Some of the most important features of the BAADER PLANETARIUM Hyperion Zoom Mark IV eyepieces are the following:
-
-
-
-
- Consisting of 7 elements, the Hyperion Zoom's optical design provides razor-sharp, color-corrected images throughout its flat field of view, even with fast telescopes (low focal ratios). Many users even go so far as to say that the Zoom eyepiece in its preset (Clickstop) magnification positions works just like its equivalent fixed focal length eyepiece. In other words, when set to the 8mm position, it performs the same as the Hyperion 8mm fixed focal length eyepiece.
- Continuously variable focal length range, but with preset positions at 8, 12, 16, 20 and 24mm. Approximate parfocal is maintained for the entire zoom range. The preset positions are very interesting when using Hyperion Zoom eyepieces on binocular heads.
- Large field. The field of view of Hyperion Zoom eyepieces is 68° at 8mm and 50° at 24mm.
- Extremely comfortable observation. The 12-15mm eyepiece relief, the large lens diameter and the freedom of dark zones and field curvature make observation very comfortable and easy to perform at all focal lengths.
- As BAADER has done with its Hyperion fixed focal length eyepieces, the Hyperion Zoom has achieved long focal lengths thanks to the application of advanced multicoating treatments that have never before been applied in the manufacture of amateur eyepieces. The Hyperion's Phantom Group™ multi-treatments rival the best eyepieces in the world, including the famous Abbe orthoscopes from Zeiss. The difference in contrast and transmission is clearly visible in the eyepiece.
- It includes two barrels, a 1.25" and a 2" barrel. The 2" barrel is attached through the use of an adapter ring that has the typical 2 "x24 tpi thread of Schmidt-Cassegrain tubes.
- Superb finish and great performance. The zoom movement is smooth and precise. The barrels have been precision machined, and finished to a high quality surface finish with a very durable anodizing. The 1.25" barrel is threaded for standard 1.25" filters, and the 2" barrel is also threaded for 2" filters.
- Adjustable protective eyecup suitable for use with or without goggles. The rotationally retractable eyecup incorporates a variable extension by means of a sophisticated helical adjustment with several preset positions to achieve the optimum position.
- Designed to fit perfectly with various spotting scopes from Celestron (M35) and Zeiss (M45). Achieve focusing with these telescopes even at very short distances.
- Complete accessory system for Digiscoping (digital photography) by high quality ocular projection
- Optically superb digital photography.
- Direct threaded coupling of the camera to the eyepiece (M43 thread on the lens)
- Hyperion digital T-rings (DT-rings) for direct attachment of almost all digital cameras, video cameras and CCD cameras.
- Improved optical quality by optimizing the geometric curvature of the inner lenses
- Internal zoom actuators and lens group centering made more rigid to avoid excessive play.
- Improved mechanical thermal response system using metal components that can work under much harsher environmental conditions.
- Grease-free movement of the internal zoom lens group.
- Improved preset position mechanics, with great smoothness and almost no sound.
- Optimized fixed zoom focal positions and minimized refocusing requirements.
- Improved dust shield and sealed front lens group.
- Close-to-eye lens group made waterproof to seal the eyepiece and prevent water ingress when used with a spotting scope and working in the rain.
- Larger eyepiece protective eyecup to protect the lens from scratches when used while wearing eyeglasses.
- Adjustable height of the protective eyecup, without grease, following the model of quality binoculars.
- Hyperion Zoom eyepieces have now been optimized for use with binocular heads.
- The height-adjustable protective eyecup can be fully unscrewed for removal to allow room for the nosepiece between the two eyepieces (when using two Zoom eyepieces in one binocular head). With a pair of Zoom Hyperion eyepieces, you have the best of the best for Binoviewing
- M43 thread for attaching accessories, including astigmatism correctors.
- Protective rubber on the smaller M43 thread.
- Thread for camera adaptation changed from SP54 to M43 (SONY) to optimize the range of possibility of adapting cameras to the eyepiece for projection photography.
- Accepts the use of the traditional ADAPTER RING from M43 to T2 (M42x0,75) in order to fit the multiple T-rings available for different types of DSLR cameras.
- Under this reference the Mark IV is supplied with the Barlow Hyperion 2.25x lens, which is inserted into the Ø 1¼" barrel, offering a range of 3.6 to 10.7 mm.
