The revolutionary technology (StarSense) that made the SKYPRODIGY telescopes some of the most awarded telescopes is now available as an accessory for almost all models of CELESTRON computerized telescopes and now also Sky-Watcher.
Before the advent of StarSense, using a computerized telescope required a somewhat tedious alignment process forcing you to search for and center at least two bright stars in the eyepiece. But the StarSense automatically aligns itself, without the need for the user to input any data or take part in the process. With StarSense, you become an astronomer instantly, even if you've never used a telescope before.
StarSense is not only compatible with current CELESTRON computerized telescopes but also with many older models, and with this new version also with Sky-Watcher.
The StarSense accessory includes a small digital camera that attaches to the telescope's optical tube and carries a specialized control knob. Simply install the StarSense, press the Align button on the control knob and the StarSense will begin capturing images of the night sky and comparing them to stored images of over 40,000 celestial objects and their relative positions. In about 3 minutes, the StarSense will gather enough information to triangulate its position and align itself. Then, press the Sky Tour button: StarSense will automatically scroll to show you the best stars, planets, galaxies and more based on what is visible from your exact location.
Even the most advanced users will be delighted to be able to use such a handy accessory as StarSense. StarSense replaces more expensive advanced modeling software for mounts, providing greater pointing accuracy from horizon to horizon. Users can add as many alignment stars as they want to give their mount the level of accuracy they want.
It replaces the SynScan control knob, and then the StarSense control knob from Celestron and the StarSense camera are used. Comes with a mounting bracket that is compatible with most Celestron and Sky-Watcher optical tubes.
Mounts 3 accessory ports: supports StarSense and an optional GPS accessory. It is very lightweight and easy to attach with the included tripod strap.
