BAADER PLANETARIUM has been able to evolve the wide field astronomical eyepieces to a higher level. BAADER PLANETARIUM has included in its renowned Hyperion eyepiece series two models with aspheric lenses as standard. These are the BAADER PLANETARIUM Hyperion aspheric 31mm and 36mm focal length eyepieces. This new technology has allowed BAADER PLANETARIUM to eliminate eyepiece aberrations without having to pay the usual toll of additional lenses, excessive size and weight, or high cost.

- BAADER PLANETARIUM Hyperion Aspheric eyepieces free the eyepieces from dead zones, field curvature and this lack of aberrations combines with a large eye relief to provide observation that is incomparably comfortable and natural for all users (including those wearing glasses). The eye relief is 18mm for the 31mm eyepiece and 20mm for the 36mm Aspheric.

- The ultra-wide 72° apparent field of view is extremely flat and distortion-free (virtually free of angular magnification distortion).

- BAADER's renowned Phantom Group optical coatings, blackened lens edge profiles and inner shield assembly to prevent internal reflections, combine perfectly with its efficient optical design (6 elements in 3 groups) to provide extremely bright, high-contrast images, free of any dispersion. These special coatings are easy to identify by their total absence of apparent coloration, which attests to their lack of selective absorption common to most other manufacturers' treatments.

- Vacuum air sealing with rubber O-rings.
- Incredible modularity of the Hyperion:

* Superb for projection imaging. BAADER PLANETARIUM Hyperion Aspheric eyepieces are threaded to be compatible with the full range of DT rings for robust and direct attachment of cameras to eyepieces. Clever use of the typically SCT 2 "x24 tpi threads to attach 2" barrels allows Hyperion Aspherical eyepieces to thread directly into the back of a Schmidt-Cassegrain tube. This results in the highest possible rigidity for astrophotography.

* Double barrel configuration - two different barrel diameters are supplied with each Hyperion Aspheric eyepiece. The standard 2" barrel provides the full 72º field size while an additional 1.25" (funnel-shaped) barrel allows the maximum possible field of view to be obtained working at 1.25", resulting in a field of 1.265" (32mm)! The apparent field is 55º for the Hyperion Aspheric 31mm and 50º for the 36mm, working with the 1.25" barrel.

* Accepts the use of the popular astigmatism corrective lenses.
