The RB Focus eXcalibur™.

A system that allows to automate the process of acquiring Flats, DarkFlats or Darks, and also replaces the classic dust cover keeping the optics free of particles that can affect our OTAs.

It is equipped with a Servo motor, a high quality electroluminescent panel and a 12Bit ADC.

The RB Focus eXcalibur is the ultimate solution for making Flats, Darks, Darkflats, Bias, and other calibration shots remotely and without having to place different devices during cold winter nights.

Its robotic operation allows automatic or on-demand calibration shots from any capture software compatible with the ASCOM Cover Calibrator standard (available in NiNa 2.0 Beta, Voyager and SGP).

Enhanced connectivity, with different communication systems, from traditional USB to wireless connectivity using Bluetooth and BLE for connection to the mobile App.

Knowing that many users prefer not to use Windows, or directly have alternative capture systems; that is why the device has been conceived with multiplatform tools allowing to control the equipment from the new RB App Focus Virtual Pad (soon on iOS and Android). This App, the only one of its kind in the world of astrophotography, allows us to save the brightness for different filters, control the panel and much more, all from our mobile, tablet or IPad.

Thanks to the high resolution ADC, the panel offers a wide range of light intensities, allowing to adjust with unsurpassed precision, the panel brightness to achieve perfect flats with just the right ADUs, and images look completely flat and free of imperfections even on the fastest systems on the market.

By means of the new dynamic brightness setting present in the latest NiNA update, we can access this Flats capture mode, which will allow us to create a table with parameters for different filters, and access them in the advanced sequencer. Because of this we will be able to automatically program the equipment to do all the calibration shots at the end of the session and completely forget about it until the capture is finished.

The assembly and disassembly process is as simple as possible for the user, by means of an installation system that does not require tools. In only 3 minutes it is possible to make the complete process of placement in our OTA. Once installed, to disassemble the device just open the panel, loosen a screw, and slide the complete module backwards. Placed in the tube will be the base that has a dovetail system where the motor and the panel are fixed.

Made of aluminum, carbon fiber and engineering plastics, the RB Focus eXcalibur is quite resistant to wind gusts. The double-arm system makes it rigid enough to withstand even the toughest nighttime shooting, making it the ideal solution for going out in the field or leaving the telescope at a remote observatory.
