ED objective lenses.
Extra-low dispersion (ED) glass virtually eliminates chromatic aberration, also known as color fringing, a common visual defect in binoculars. TrailSeeker ED offers edge-to-edge sharpness with excellent color correction and sharp images.
Not all ED glass is created equal. High quality ED glass from Celestron provides visibly brighter and sharper images compared to non-ED binoculars. The difference is especially evident in low light conditions, such as at dawn or dusk.
Coatings and Prisms.
TrailSeeker ED features fully coated optics and dielectrically coated BaK-4 prisms. A binocular can be considered "fully multi-coated" when all air-to-glass contact surfaces are coated with multiple layers of anti-reflective coatings so that the maximum amount of light passes through the glass to the eye.
The prism inside the TrailSeeker ED is made of high quality BaK-4 glass with dielectric coatings so that more light is reflected off the prism and effectively deflected toward the eye. Taken together, the multiple coatings and BaK-4 prisms maximize light transmission for the brightest, most detailed images.
The body.
TrailSeeker ED is composed of lightweight, durable magnesium alloy. Its rigid, rugged structure is rubberized to withstand tough use in the field. In addition, the binocular is fully waterproof and nitrogen-filled to prevent internal lens fogging. TrailSeeeker ED can withstand even the toughest outdoor conditions.
Viewing through TrailSeeker ED is comfortable for both eyeglass and non-eyeglass wearers, thanks to the durable eyecups.
